Meghan Trainor holds the top spot for the 2nd week running with her debut single ‘All About That Bass’, in fact all top 4 spots are filled by female artists this week. Last week’s Number 2 is a non mover as well, the ex Number 1 from Jesse J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj collaborating with ‘Bang Bang’ holds firm.

In total there are 6 new entries, the highest is in at Number 3 for 31 year old Trinidad and Tobago born Nicki Minaj, this is her 12th hit as the main artist, she has also charted a further 6 times as a featured artist the song is called ‘Anaconda’ and is taken from her forth coming 3rd studio Album ‘The Pinkprint’. Anaconda heavily samples Sir Mix A Lots ‘Baby’s Got Back’ which was the 2nd biggest selling single on Billboard back in 1992.

The female at number 4 is Taylor Swift dropping one place with ‘Shake It Off it’, it’s her 8th week on the chart.

The 2nd highest new entry this week is in at Number 5 for Jeremih featuring YG with ‘Don’t Tell Em’’, he has appeared on the UK top 40 on 2 previous occasions, back in 2009 when ‘Birthday Sex’ peaked at Number 15 and in 2010 when ‘Down On Me’ ft 50 Cent reached Number 30. The song’s lyrics use quotes from Snaps 1992 Number 1 single ‘Rhythm Is A Dancer’.

The other new song into the top 10 is at Number 8 for Ella Henderson with ‘Glow’, it is the 2nd track to be taken from her debut Album ‘Chapter One’, the 1st single ‘Ghost’ was a Number 1 earlier on this year.

New in at Number 13 is Luvbug featuring Talay Riley with ‘Resonance, Luvbug are a electronic dance act who have already worked with big names such as David Guetta and Major Lazer, this is their debut single. It is the 2nd time Talay Riliey has charted as a featured artist having provided vocals on Chipmunks 2009 Number 7 single ‘Look for Me’.

Usher returns to the top 40 with his follow up to Good Kisser’, ‘She Came To Give It To You’ samples ‘Just Be Good To Me’ the 1983 Number 13 single from the SOS Band, the rap on the song is provided by Nicki Minaj and is one of 3 tracks she performs on in this week’s chart.

The final new entry is in at Number 20 for Brian Wilson and Various Artists with ‘God Only Knows’,the song is a re-recording and is this year’s  Children In Need single, as well as Brian Wilson other artists providing vocals to the track include Elton John, Kylie Minogue and Chris Martin. The song originally was on the Beach Boys 1966 Album ‘Pet Sounds’ and when released as a single peaked at Number 2.

A change to the way the chart is compiled with the advent of streaming being included to regular sales for the first time, any change for even better accuracy is always welcomed.

This week sees the 20th different chart topper of the year so far with 21 year old Florida born Ariana Grande reaching the top with her debut hit single ‘Problem’. The song has already been to Number 2 in America and features a rap from Australian Iggy Azalea, there is also uncredited backing vocals from Big Sean.

Ella Henderson holds on to the Number 2 spot for the 2nd week and George Ezra climbs 2 to 3 with ‘Budapest’.

The 2nd highest entry is at Number 6 for Sia Furler with ‘Chandelier’, as the main artist on a song this is her 2nd hit following on from ‘Taken for Granted’ back in 2000.She has also had 3 top 10 hits as featured artist on the songs ‘Titanium’ and ‘She Wolf’ with David Guetta and ‘Wild Ones’ with Flo Rida. She also has several song writing credits including hits for Rihanna, Britney Spears and Kylie Minogue amongst numerous others.

The other top 10 new entry is at Number 10 for Dj fresh with ‘Bounce’, this is his 8th top 10 single and is taken from his upcoming 4th studio Album. The song features uncredited vocals from Nicole Shortland under her stage name of Little Nikki.

On a quiet week for new entry’s the 4th and final one is in at Number 39 for The Vamps featuring Demi Lovato with ‘Someone To You’, this is the 4th hit single from their debut Album ‘Meet The Vamps’.

For the 1st time in 17 weeks a song has managed to hold on to the top spot for a 2nd week that honour belongs to Ella Henderson with her debut single ‘Ghost’.

There are 5 new entries with the highest entering at Number 2.

Back with their 2nd hit and following on from the March Number 1 ‘She Looks So Perfect’, 5 Seconds of Summer are a new entry at Number 2 with ‘Don’t Stop’.

It‘s always welcome to see new talent and music of different genres on the chart and the new entry at Number 4 gives us both. George Ezra is 21 years old and comes from Hertford, his music is described as Folk, Blues and Rock. He cites his major influences as Bob Dylan and Woody Guthrie, the single is called ‘Budapest’ and his debut Album due on June 30th is called ‘Wanted on Voyage’.

The other top 10 new entry is at Number 7 for North London electronic duo Gorgon City with ‘Here for You’.  They had a Number 4 hit earlier on this year with ‘Ready for Your Love’.

American singer Demi Lovato charts for the 5th time in the UK with ‘Neon Lights’, her most successful single to date was ‘Heart Attack’ which peaked at Number 3 last year.

Finally The Kooks released their 4th Album ‘Listen’ last month and the 2nd single release from it called ‘Around Town’ is new in at Number 35.

Lots of changes on the new chart this week as we welcome 9 new hits.

First of all its congratulations again to Clean Bandit who hold the top spot for a 4th week with ‘Rather Be’.

There are 2 new entries in the top 10.

Making its debut at Number 2 is Russian dDJ/producer Zedd  with ‘Stay The Night’, the song features vocals from Hayley Williams she is lead vocalist with the rock group Paramour. Zedd’s real name is Anton Zaslavski

The second highest new entry is at Number 4 for the undisputed king of Electronic Dance Music David Guetta with ‘Shot Me Down’. The song is built around Cher’s 1966 Number 3 hit ‘Bang Bang’ written by Sonny Bono. In 2005 the Audio Bullys did a Dance version of the same song.

 The 3rd new entry is at Number  11 for Le Youth whose real name is Wes James he is an American Dance music producer, the song is called ‘Dance With Me’ and follows up last year’s hit ‘Cool’.’Dance With Me’ samples the TLC hit ‘No Scrubs’.

 There is 1 more new entry in the top 20 and that comes in at Number 15 for Dapper Laughs with ‘Proper Moist’. Dapper Laughs is the stage name of cockney comedian Daniel O’Rielly.

 In at  Number 28 is the romantic ballad from John Legend called ‘All Of Me’, the song has already been Number 1 in Australia, Belgium and the Netherlands. This is the 4th chart hit for Legend and is taken from his 5th studio Album ‘Love In The Future’.

New in at  Number 33 is ‘Roll Of Honour’ by Irish Brigade, the song commemorates the 10 IRA and INLA  hunger strikers who died during the 1981 Irish hunger strike in Northern Ireland.The song is written by Gerry O’Glacain.

 The next new song to enter is at Number 34 for American Indie Rock band American authors with ‘Best Day Of My Life’ this is their 2nd single release and is taken from their debut Album ‘Oh What a Life’.

 The 8th new entry is at Number 36 for Ellie Goulding with ‘Goodness Gracious’, the song becomes the 6th hit single from her ‘Halcyon Days’ deluxe version Album.

 Finally new at Number 40 is 19year old Scottish singer songwriter Nina Nesbitt with ‘Selfies’, this is her 2nd charting song as she also had a hit last year reaching Number 21  with ‘Stay Out’.
