‘You Can’t Hurry Love’ was written by the legendary songwriting team of Holland-Dozier-Holland(see also best songs 969-823-650-553-411 and 212.)The lyrics written by Eddie Holland were inspired by a 1950’s Gospel song by Dorothy Love Coates with the lyrics ‘You can’t hurry God,you just have to wait.’
In 1982 a cover version by Phil Collins became a UK Number 1 single,Collins wanted to replicate the Motown sound with 1980’s technology.Collins version is also famous for being the very first track on the very first ‘Now That’s What I Call Music’ compilations.
