THE 1000 BEST SONGS IN THE WORLD EVER.
628-Bill Haley and His Comets-Rock Around The Clock.
1955-Number 1 single.
Best Bit-At 0.01 The end of the world as we know it.Teenage anarchy, Individuals gyrating in an unspeakable fashion.Rock Music had just been invented.
It may appear very tame by today’s standards but back in 1955 this was Punk Rock,Thrash Metal and Happy Hardcore all rolled into one.
Rock Around The Clock was written back in 1952 by James E.Myers and Max C.Freedman with Bill Haley in mind, but due to contractual reasons at the time with his record label he was unable to record it.
The song was first recorded by Sonny Dae and His Knights in 1953.When Haley was finally free to record the song it charted at a respectable Number 13 in 1954 in the UK.It wasn’t until it was chosen for the opening scenes in the Hollywood Movie ‘Blackboard Jungle’ in 1954 that it took off In theaters. The music led to a large teenage audience and their exuberant response to it sometimes overflowed into violence and vandalism at screenings. The film has been seen as marking the start of a period of visible teenage rebellion in the later half of the 20th Century.
‘One,two,three O’clock,four O’clock rock.’

THE 1000 BEST SONGS IN THE WORLD EVER.
635-T-Connection-At Midnight.
1979-Number 53 single
Best Bit-At .3.07.Well for the drummer and bongo player at least,a welcome rest.
T-Connection were a Funk and Disco group from Nassau, the Bahamas who achieved two UK top 20 singles with ‘Do What You Wanna Do’ and ‘On Fire,’both in 1977.
The 12inch vinyl for ‘At Midnight’ was ‘DJ friendly’ as there were etchings on the record to let you know where to place the needle. For instance if you wanted to skip the Drum intro this was clearly marked. These were the days before mixing, but the seeds were being sown.
‘Look into my eyes tell me what you see do you see some possibilities.’
