The song was written in 1938 by Irving Berlin widely considered one of the greatest songwriters of all time.He is responsible for writing over 1500 songs including White Christmas and God Bless America.It’s A Lovely Day Tomorrow came about out of a conversation between Berlin and Hungarian film producer Alexander Korda in 1938.The Munich agreement had just depressed both men and Korda asked Berlin if he had written a war song yet.

Joan Anita Barbara Armatrading MBE was born in Basseterre,on the Caribbean island of Saint Kitts in 1950,the third of six children.At the age of seven she joined her parents who had based themselves in Birmingham.Of the song Armatrading said ‘It’s just deeply,deeply personal and i can’t talk about it without talking about the person i wrote it for,which i never,ever do.’

Best Bit-At 2.04 The songs title is a pun on Schubert’s ‘Unfinished Symphony,’who says i never mention Classical music.
The song was released as the second single from their debut Album Blue Lines on 11th February 1991.The release coincided with the Gulf War and so as to avoid a radio ban the band dropped the word attack from their name.Guest vocals were provided by Shara Nelson who is also one of the songs co-writers.

Best Bit-At 0.13 Without Prince Buster there would probably be no 2 Tone,The Specials or Madness.
At the time this song was written many Jamaicans had a fascination with gangster and Western films.The Specials sampled the song on their 1979 hit Gangsters.The original ‘B’ side to Al Capone is One Step Beyond which was successfully covered by Madness in 1979,they also took their name from another of Prince Busters songs.
