COMING NEXT THE BEST 410.

The world has gone mad today
And goods bad today and blacks white today
And days night today and that gent today
You gave a cent today once had several chateaux.
Just think of those shocks you’ve got
And those knocks you’ve got
And those blues you’ve got from the news you’ve got
And those pains you’ve got if any brains you’ve got
From those little radios.

THE 1000 BEST SONGS IN THE WORLD EVER.
411-Diana Ross & The Supremes-I’m Living In Shame.
1969-Number 14 single.
Best Bit At 2.23.Not all Pop songs are boy meets girl, they fall in love and live happily ever after.
The song is inspired by the plot of the 1959 film ‘Imitation Of Life,’the song was also written as a sequel to The Supremes Billboard Number 1 song of 1968 ‘Love Child.’
The song tells the story of a woman who was born in to poverty and being ashamed of her mother since being a child. She grows up and leaves home and lies about her past in order to move up in to higher society. She marries a man who is well off and tells him her mother is dead, and after giving birth she doesn’t even tell her mother. Then one day she receives a telegram saying her mother has died and she now feels extremely guilty.
Diana Ross(see also best songs 519 and 900) sang lead vocals, but the other two Supremes who at that time were Mary Wilson and Cindy Birdsong were replaced by Motown’s female session singers ‘The Andantes.’

414-FPI Project-Rich In Paradise.
1989-Number 9 single.
Best Bit-At 1.20.’Put your hands up in the air,'(It’s an old saying.)
The original version of the song was written and recorded in 1977 by Lamont Dozier for his Album ‘Peddlin’ Music On The Side.’In the 1960’s Dozier had been one third of the legendary Tamla Motown writing team of Holland Dozier Holland,(see also best songs 650.)

Two versions of the song were released, one featuring the vocals of Sharon D.Clarke(see also best songs 787) and this the version I have chosen featuring the vocals of Paolo Dini.
The FPI Project were a trio consisting of Marco Fratty,Corrado Presti and Roberto Intrallazz, they were also responsible for introducing the world to the genre of ‘Italian House Music’ in the early 1990’s.

THE 1000 BEST SONGS IN THE WORLD EVER.
415-Nickleback-Rockstar.
2006-Number 2 single.
Best Bit-At 1.01.The song maybe about spending billions of dollars but Nickleback took their name from the nickel in change that band member Mike Kroeger gave customers at his job at Starbucks,he would frequently say,’Here’s your nickel back.’
Nickleback are a Canadian rock band formed in 1995 by brothers Chad and Mike Kroeger,Ryan Peake and joined by drummer Daniel Adair in 2005.
The song pokes fun at the stereotypical lifestyle of a famous musician, complete with references to extravagant homes, groupies, drugs and famous friends.Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top provides some of the songs vocals and he also appears in it’s brilliant video, which of course you can watch here.
‘I want a brand new house on an episode of cribs and a bathroom I can play baseball in and a king size tub big enough for ten plus me.’

416-Johnny ‘Guitar’ Watson-I Need It.
1975-Number 36 single.
Best Bit-At 2.25.He wasn’t christened ‘Guitar,’ but he should have been.
In fact Watson took his stage name from the Joan Crawford 1954 film ‘Johnny Guitar.’
Johnny ‘Guitar’ Watson was born on February 3,1935 and died on May 17th,1996 in Yokohama,Japan of a heart attack,he collapsed while performing on stage.
Watson was a flamboyant showman with a taste for flashy clothes and wild showmanship on stage.

In a 1994 interview Watson was asked if his 1980 song ‘Telephone Bil’ anticipated Rap Music,Watson replied ‘I damn well invented it!’
Basically Johnny ‘Guitar’ Watson was blessed with so much natural talent he could turn his hand to anything.

417-Crosby,Stills & Nash-Marrakesh Express.
1969-Number 17 single.
Best Bit-At 0.48.Marrakesh is a city in Morocco. The Marrakesh Express is the train Graham Nash took on a trip there from Casablanca in 1966.The lyrics tell the tale of the sights and sounds that he encountered on the trip.
Graham Nash was still a member of The Hollies when he wrote the song, but became frustrated when they refused to record it saying it wasn’t commercial enough, this was one of the reasons he left the band.
David Crosby had been a member of American Folk Rock group The Byrds,(see also best songs 621) but had mutually left them in 1967 and Stephen Stills had also just left his band Buffalo Springfield(see also best songs 559.) In 1970 the ‘Supergroup’ was completed when Neil Young(see also best songs 602) also ex Buffalo Springfield joined them on their 39 date tour.
