THE 1000 BEST SONGS IN THE WORLD EVER.
368-Delerium featuring Sarah McLachlan-Silence.
2000-Number 3 single.
Best Bit-At 4.21.Silence Is Golden.
Delerium are a Canadian Ambient Electronic musical duo that formed in 1987.They have traditionally been a two person project, but the only constant member has been Bill Leeb working with either Rhys Fulber,Chris Peterson or Michael Balch.
Silence was first recorded in 1997 in a much slower Ambient tempo for their Album ‘Karma,’When producers such as Airscape and Tiesto remixed the song as an uptempo vocal Trance recording it generated interest in the clubs and then gained airplay. The vocals on the track are provided by fellow Canadian Sarah McLachan.
I have chosen the Airscape mix but I feel the Tiesto version is of equal standing.
‘Heaven holds a sense of wonder and I wanted to believe.’

THE 1000 BEST SONGS IN THE WORLD EVER.
369-The Hollies-The Air That I Breathe.
1974-Number 2 single.
Best Bit-At 1.43.No other intro to no other song sounds anything like this.Nothing ‘Creep-y’about it at all.
The Air That I Breathe was co-written by Albert Hammond and Mike Hazlewood and originally recorded for Hammond’s 1972 Album ‘It Never Rains In Southern California.’
Albert Hammond is a prolific songwriter,he is the co-author of four UK Number 1 singles.’When I Need You'(Leo Sayer,) ‘Don’t Turn Around'(Aswad,) ‘One Moment In Time'(Whitney Houston) and ‘Nothings Gonna Stop Us Now'(Starship.)
The Hollies were formed in 1962 by Allan Clarke and Graham Nash.In the UK they have achieved 29 top 40 singles and 22 on Billboard, with differing lineups, they remain active to this present day.
The 1992 Radiohead song ‘Creep’ uses a similar chord progression and shares some melodic content with this song.As a result the song’s publisher sued Radiohead for copyright infringement and a settlement was reached in which Hammond and Hazlewood were given co-writing credits as well as a portion of the songs royalties.
‘If I could make a wish I think I’d pass, can’t think of anything I need.’

370-Duke Ellington and his Famous Orchestra-It Don’t Mean A Thing(If It Ain’t Got That Swing.)
1932-Has never charted. There was no UK chart until 1952.
Best Bit At 2.43.It is likely that this song was the first to use the term ‘Swing,’ and therefore this song is responsible for what was to become known as ‘Swing Music.’
The song was written in 1931 by Duke Ellington with lyrics by his manager Irving Mills. The vocals were performed by Ivie Anderson,(1905-1949.)
Edward Kennedy ‘Duke’ Ellington(1899-1974) is considered as one of the greatest composers of the 20th Century.
Music historian Gunther Schuller wrote in 1989,’Ellington composed incessantly to the very last days of his life, music was indeed his mistress,In Jazz he was a giant among giants and in 20th Century music he may yet one day be recognised as one of the half dozen greatest masters of our time.’

THE 1000 BEST SONGS IN THE WORLD EVER.
373-Maroon 5 featuring Christina Aguilera-Moves Like Jagger.
2011-Number 2 single.
Best Bit-At 3.16.One of the great things about this song is how it brings the generations together. The legendary Mick Jagger is introduced to a whole new audience and young and old can learn to appreciate each others music.
It has taken Maroon 5 a very long time to finally reach the heights they have, having been formed as far back as 1994 in Los Angeles,California. It wasn’t until 2002’s ‘Songs About Jane’ Album that success finally came.
‘Moves Like Jagger’s’ lyrics refer to a male’s ability to impress a love interest with his dance moves which he compares to those of Mick Jagger, lead singer of The Rolling Stones.
Other recent songs that name check Mick Jagger include ‘I Got A Feeling(Black Eyed Peas,) ‘Tik Tok'(Kesha) and ‘Swagger Jagger'(Cher Lloyd.)

Best Bit-At 2.39.Just when you think the party’s over and it’s time to go home the DJ ‘drops a monster.’
If you are familiar with the work of KC and the Sunshine Band(see also best songs 893) then this song will already sound familiar.By 1979 Harry Casey and Richard Finch(this songs writers) of that band had already scored five Billboard Number 1’s, which leads you to think how big this song would have been had it been recorded by them instead.
Jimmy Horace Horne Jr. was born on September 28,1949 in West Beach,Florida,United States.Apart from this song he is also known for the disco song ‘Spank’ and the original version of ‘Gimme Some’ a UK hit for the band Brendan, also written by Casey and Finch.

THE 1000 BEST SONGS IN THE WORLD EVER.

1963-Has never charted in the UK.
Best Bit-At 1.44.This is probably the most controversial song in the world ever. There are people out there who’s blood will be boiling at the very mention of it.
‘Wives and Lovers’ is a song of advice to married women,to stay attractive and attentive to their husbands(‘wives should always be lovers too,’) to avoid their husband’s straying with ‘girls at the office.’
In defence of the song it can also be sang by the wife to the husband. It can also be seen as a warning not to take each other for granted.
The song was written by the great song writing team of Burt Bacharach and Hal David(see also best songs 902-832-815-740 and 644) to promote the 1963 film ‘Wives and Lovers.’
Jack Jones was born on January 14,1938 in Los Angeles,California to the actor Allan Jones and the actress Irene Hervey. Perhaps his best known recording is the 1977 ‘Love Boat’ song which was the theme song to the American television series ‘The Love Boat.’He has been married six times.
‘Don’t think because there’s a ring on your finger you needn’t try anymore.’
