We have a brand new Number 1.

Londoner Rowan Jones under the alias of Route 94 goes straight in at the top with ‘My Love’, it is his debut single and continues the dominance of commercial house music on the chart. The vocals are supplied by Jess Glynn who has already been to Number 1 this year as the singer on Clean Bandits ‘Rather Be’.

In total there are 5 new entries.

The 2nd highest is at Number 7 for Lily Allen with ‘Air Balloon’, this is her 12th hit single and the 3rd from her forth coming May released Album ‘Sheezus’.

Coldplay release their 6th studio Album in May called ‘Ghost Stories’ and the1st  single from it has charted at Number 10, the song is called ‘Magic’, this is Coldplay’s 19th hit single.

The 4th new entry is at Number 26 for English Folk/Alternative Rock musician Nick Mulvey, this is his 2nd single and 1st chart hit. He states fellow folk singer Laura Marling as an influence.

The final new entry is at 36 for Avicci with ‘Addicted To You’, it is the 4th single to be taken from his Album ‘True’, the unaccredited vocals are those of Audra Mae, she is the great grand niece of Judy Garland.

A special mention to 2 songs this week.

‘ Pompeii’ from Bastille first entered the chart in February of 2013, it has been up and down  the top 100 continuously for the past 54 weeks and is currently still hanging on in there at 37 and one of last year’s Number 1 singles ‘Counting Stars’ from One Republic has now spent 32 weeks in the current top 40.

Pharrell Williams may have lost the top spot on the singles chart, but his Album ‘Girl’ has debuted at the top of the Album chart. His single ‘Happy’ has now topped the charts in 20 different countries.

 As always enjoy the music.
