This Week sees the 1250th UK Number 1 single since the music charts began back on November 14th 1952.

It is a big congratulations to Clean Bandit who have achieved this feat when their song ‘Rather Be’ reached the top spot.

Clean Bandit members Jack Patterson, Grace Chatto, and Milan Smith met while studying at Cambridge University. Luke Patterson, brother of Jack, is the 4thmember. This is their 4th single release. They charted at Number 17 last April with ‘Mozart’s House’, the only other occasion they have featured in the top 40.

Pharrell Williams slips back one place to Number 2 with ‘Happy’, this means that the 2nd highest new entry is at Number 3 for The Vamps with ‘Wildheart’. This is their 2nd single. Their previous single, ‘Can we Dance’, peaked at Number 2 last October.

The third new song in the top 10 is ‘Brave heart’ from Shereen, Amira, Jess and Asami collectively known as ‘Neon Jungle’. This is also their second single following on from ‘Trouble’, which reached Number 12 last September. Their Debut Album, to be released shortly, includes the track ‘Welcome to the Jungle’. The song gave the Band the idea for its name.

Macklemore and Ryan Lewis are a new entry at Number 27 with ‘White Walls’. This is the 4th single from the 2012 Album ‘The Heist’. Their best known song to date is ‘Thrift Shop’, a UK Number 1 last February. It was also the biggest selling song in America last year.

The 3rd single release from Miley Cyrus’s 4th solo Album, ‘Bangerz’, has charted at Number 33. It is the ballad ‘Adore you’. Miley Cyrus is the daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus who had a Number 3 single in 1992 with the line dance anthem ‘Achy Breaky heart’.

The sixth and final new entry this week is from One Republic, charting one place higher at Number 32, the song is about Ryan Tedders fear of flying and is called ‘If I Lose Myself Tonight’. This follows on from the success of last year’s Number 1 ‘Counting Stars’.

As always enjoy the music.
