THE 1000 BEST SONGS IN THE WORLD EVER.
951-The Cure-In Between Days.
1985-Number 15 single.
Best Bit-At 0.01.It’s only the song with the best ‘Intro’ in the world ever, all 1 minute and 51 seconds of it.
The original five founding members of The Cure were school friends at Notre Dame Middle School in Crawley, West Sussex, England, their first performance was at the school in April 1973, calling themselves ‘Obelisk.’ It wasn’t until the Spring of 1978 that the band now officially named The Cure by Robert Smith, entered a recording studio for the first time as a trio. They have undergone many personnel changes throughout the years, with Robert Smith being the bands one constant.
‘In Between Days’ is an upbeat, happy sounding ‘Pop’ song, something not always associated with The Cure, (although there have been a few,) it has been noted that the tracks baseline is reminiscent of the song ‘Dreams Never End’ by New Order. Unlike the beat, the lyrics are not happy, the song was written by Robert Smith, and tell of an affair the narrator had, then realising he had made a mistake, is wanting his first love back.
‘And I know I was wrong, when I said it was true, That it couldn’t be me, and be her, in-between, without you.’
