THE 1000 BEST SONGS IN THE WORLD EVER.
207-Faithless-God Is a DJ.
1998-Number 6 single.
Best Bit-At 2.38.On listening to the lyrics I suggest they should change their name from Faithless to Faithful.
Faithless(see also best songs 890) were formed in London in 1995 and remained active until 2011,they re-united in 2015 for their 20th anniversary. The founding members were Maxwell Frazer(Maxi Jazz,) it is his voice you hear on this song.Ironically for someone who formed a band called Faithless,he is a devout Buddhist. Ayalah Bentovim(Sister Bliss) plays keyboards and is a record producer,Roland Armstrong(Rollo) is a multi-instrumentalist who also co-wrote and produced the multi million selling Albums ‘No Angel’ and ‘Life For Rent’ for his sister Dido.James Cato was the other founding member who stayed with the band for their first two Albums before leaving to form the Grammy nominated ‘1 Giant Leap.’
‘God Is a DJ’ is about people with a shared interest coming together and celebrating. It makes the comparison between faith and the similar effect music can have on your well being.
‘This is my church, this is where I heal my hurts. For tonight God is a DJ.’

THE 1000 BEST SONGS IN THE WORLD EVER.
208-Queen-We Are The Champions.
1977-Number 2 single.
Best Bit-At 0.38.This song is also notable for boasting the best ‘B’ side in the world ever.
‘We Are The Champions’ was written by Freddie Mercury and was first released on Queen’s 1977 Album,’News Of The World.’The single featured ‘We Will Rock You’ as its ‘B’ side and followed that song on the Album. The two songs were often played consecutively at the close of Queen concerts and are often played together in Album order by many radio stations.
Freddie Mercury(see also best songs 918 and 615) explained the songs meaning.’I was thinking about football when I wrote it.I wanted a participation song, something the fans could latch on to.Of course I’ve given it more theatrical subtlety than a ordinary football chant. You know me,I suppose it could also be constructed as my version of I did it my way.’
‘No time for losers ’cause we are the champions of the world.’

THE 1000 BEST SONGS IN THE WORLD EVER.
209-David Bowie-Young Americans.
1975-Number 18 single.
Best Bit-At 4.15.Bowie reminds us of the price President Nixon paid for his misdemeanours. When performing the song live in future years he would change the name to the then current President.
By 1975 Bowie(see also best songs 807-440-334 and 302) was ready to explore new ventures and it was Soul Music which was to become his new passion.Although he was already a big success in America they didn’t fully take to ‘Glam Rock,’ and it was the release of the Young Americans Album which took his career to the next level across the Atlantic, with ‘Fame’ giving him his first Billboard Number 1.
Young Americans is the tale of a teenage couple trying to cope with life in America, striving to achieve ‘The American Dream’ but finding out it is impossible as they come to terms with real life and realising that there will be no Hollywood style fairytale ending.
‘We live for just these twenty years,do we have to die for the fifty more.’

210-Chris Brown featuring Busta Rhymes and Lil Wayne-Look At Me Now.
2011-Number 44 single.
Best Bit-At 1.39.If Rapping was an Olympic sport then Busta Rhymes would be Usain Bolt.
‘Look At Me Now’ was released as the second single from Chris Brown’s forth studio Album ‘F.A.M.E,’ the Album title stands for,’Forgiving All My Enemies’ and was released in 2011,It peaked at Number 6 on Billboard. The song was co-written by Brown(see also best songs 785,) Busta Rhymes (see also best songs 675) and Lil Wayne with production by Afrojack(see also best songs 531,) Diplo and Jean Baptiste.
Afrojack said of the amazing Busta Rhymes Rap,’Busta’s verse on it is really sick,It’s like I can’t even hear what he said, but I love the part where he goes(mimics Busta’s rapid flow) and then pauses and goes rapping really quickly, and I don’t know how to do it.I don’t even try,but it was really, really cool.’
‘I don’t see how you can hate from outside the club, you can’t even get in.’

THE 1000 BEST SONGS IN THE WORLD EVER.
212-The Supremes-Baby Love.
1964-Number 1 single.
Best Bit-At 0.16.Tamla Motown was the most famous record label in the world but amazingly they only achieved three UK Number 1’s in the 1960’s,can you name the other two?The answer is at the end of this article.
The Supremes(see also best songs 411) were founded as The Primettes in Detroit,Michigan in 1959,they remained active until 1977,the name change occurred in 1961 at the insistence of Motown owner Berry Gordy. When you think of The Supremes you think of three female singers, but over the course of the eighteen years there were ten different vocalists.
The first six Supremes singles all failed to chart, but after being introduced to the songwriting team of Holland-Dozier-Holland(see also best songs 969-823-650-553 and 414) they went on to achieve 12 Billboard Number 1’s,a record for an American group.
The other two UK Motown Number 1 songs are Reach Out I’ll Be There for the Four Tops in 1966 and I Heard It Through The Grapevine for Marvin Gaye in 1969.
‘Ooh baby love,my baby love I need you,oh how I need you.’

215-Billy Joel-Piano Man.

Best Bit-At 0.07.The piano’s great,but what about the ‘Dylanesque’ harmonica…man.
William Martin Joel(see also best songs 810) was born May 9,1949 in The Bronx,New York,U.S.,he has sold over 150 million records worldwide making him one of the best selling artists of all time.In America he is the sixth best selling recording artist and the third best selling solo artist ever in that country.
Piano Man has become Joel’s signature tune and is the title track of his second studio Album from 1973.
