Two of the songs co-writers are Franke Previte and John DeNicola. Previte had been a member of New Jersey Rock band Franke and the Knockouts who had achieved three top thirty singles on Billboard in the early 1980’s. The band had recorded the original version of ‘Time Of My Life’ and the films musical director Jimmy Lenner wanted to use it but wanted ‘bigger names’ to record a new version.
The female vocals were first offered to Donna Summer but she turned it down,it was then offered to Jennifer Warnes who had already had great success with another film soundtrack song,her duet with Joe Cocker ‘Up Where We Belong’ from ‘An Officer And A Gentleman’ had been a Billboard Number 1 and Grammy award winning song in 1982.Once Medley(see also best songs 782) who had always been a fan knew Warnes was on board he accepted his role.
