The Tavares brothers are Ralph,Arthur,Antone,Feliciano and Perry,they were born and raised in Providcence,Rhode Island,United States.
They had their first success in 1974 with a cover of the Hall & Oates song ‘She’s Gone'(see best songs 881) which reached Number 1 on the Billboard R&B chart.
In 1975 they turned their hand to Disco teaming up with Freddie Perren who had previously been a songwriter at Tamla Motown.Notable songs co-written by Perren include ‘I Will Survive'(Gloria Gaynor) and the Jackson’s first Motown hit ‘I Want You Back.’Perren also produced the Tavares version of ‘More Than A Woman’ which appears on ‘The Saturday Night Fever’ soundtrack.
