Shalamar were created by Dick Griffey who booked acts for the legendary ‘Soul Train’ music show and the programme’s creator and presenter Don Cornelius.
Griffey signed Shalamar to his record label ‘SOLAR’ Records(Sound of Los Angeles Records) and they were the labels most successful act.
Band member Jeffrey Daniel who had been a dancer on Soul Train went on to co-choreograph with Michael Jackson the video’s for ‘Bad’ and ‘Smooth Criminal.’
