The Eagles were formed in Los Angeles in 1971.The founding members were Glenn Frey,Don Henley,Bernie Leadon and Randy Meisner,Joe Wash joined the band in 1975 and Timothy B.Schmit in 1977.Their Greatest Hits Album(1971-1975)was the biggest selling Album of the 20th century in America.
Don Henley gave his interpretation of the song.’It was all about these girls that would come down to ‘Dan Tana’s'(restaurant) looking beautiful.They’d be there from 8 O’clock until midnight having drinks with all of us rockers,then they’d go home because they were kept women.’

The Ohio Players were formed in Ohio in 1959 and with several different line ups were active until 2002,all the original members have now died.
They started out as the backing band for ‘The Falcons’ an American R&B group whose members have included Soul legends such as Eddie Floyd(see best songs 828) and Wilson Pickett.
‘Fire’ was the title track from the Ohio Players sixth studio Album recorded in 1974.The song was one of their two Billboard Number 1 singles,the other was ‘Love Rollercoaster in 1975,later covered and a hit for The Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1996.
The singer/songwriter and founder of the band Wild Cherry,Rob Parissi has stated that his Billboard Number 1 song ‘Play That Funky Music is heavily influenced by ‘Fire.’

Best Bit-At 2.24.Difford and Tilbrook were once hailed as ‘the heirs to Lennon and McCartney’s throne.’
Chris Difford claims that in 1973 he stole 50p from his mothers purse to put a card in a local sweetshop window to advertise for a guitarist to join his band,although he wasn’t actually in a band at the time. Tilbrook was the only person who responded to the advert.
Up The Junction is the name of a collection of short stories written by Neil Dunn,first published in 1963.Lyricist Chris Difford said that the title phrase was lifted from the 1965 TV play version of the work and the subsequent 1968 movie version.
‘And so it’s my assumption I’m really up the junction.’

1964-Number 7 single.
Best Bit-At 2.44 and you put your hands up in the air.
The original version of Shout was written and performed by the Isley Brothers in 1959(see also best songs 823) and produced by Hugo and Luigi(see also best songs 765.) 
Although it never charted in the UK and only peaked at Number 47 on Billboard it has become one of the Isley’s most successful songs because of it’s longevity and the many times it has been covered.
In 1964 the song became the breakthrough hit for Scottish born singer Lulu and her backing band The Luvvers.
At the age of only 15 when she recorded the song,it is highly unlikely anyone younger will figure in this countdown.

Best Bit At-0.49.I always thought ‘Right Back Where We Started From’ had a Northern Soul feel to it and now I know why.
In 1975 Pierre Tubbs and J.Vincent Edwards co-wrote the American Billboard Number 2 single performed by Maxine Nightingale
called ‘Right Back Where We Started From,’which was going to be my next track of choice,but after hearing ‘Goodbye Nothing To Say’ for the first time I include it instead.’Right Back Where We Started From’ is so similar to ‘Goodbye Nothing To Say’ that it’s daylight robbery.
The Javells were a British Northern Soul group led by Stephen Jameson,in the 1960’s he recorded under his own name as well as his stage name Nosmo King(no smoking.)
‘Goodbye Nothing To Say,’originally started out life as the ‘B’ side to Jameson’s 1960’s ‘Pye Records’ recording ‘Teenage Love.’The song was co-written by Jameson and Marshall Doctores.
‘So goodbye there’s nothing to say,just goodbye there’s no other way.’

Seven Days and One Week is a Dance song by the Italian/French music production trio of Bruno Sanchioni,Bruno Quartier and Emmanuel Top,they took the groups name from the first letter of each of their first names.
They were active as a trio between 1996-2003 releasing one Album called ‘Games’ in 1998 and eight official singles.In the UK they were very successful achieving four top twenty singles,including ‘Flash’ which reached Number 5 in 1997.

Thriller was the seventh single release from Michael Jackson’s 1982 Album of the same name.The song was written by Rod Temperton(see best songs 812) and produced by Quincy Jones(see best songs 703.)
While Temperton was writing the song he stated that he’d ‘always envisioned a talking section at the end’ on the song.Quincy Jones’ then wife Peggy Lupton who knew Vincent Price,(May 27,1911-October 25,1993) suggested Price for the vocal part.
In 1999 MTV listed the music video as being the greatest music video ever made on their list ‘100 Greatest Videos Ever.’
