The song is based on a Tony Scott recording called ‘What Am I To Do,’Harry Johnson(Harry J) bought the rights from Scott re-arranged it and released it on his own label ‘Harry J Records.’Fellow Reggae artist Alton Ellis said the core of the song was a lift from his hit ‘Girl I’ve Got A Date.’
The musicians involved in the recording were brothers Aston Barrett,(Bass) Carlton Barrett(Drums) and Winston Wright(Organ.)
‘Liquidator’ is a popular tune to play as football players take to the pitch.Teams that have used it over the years include Wolverhampton Wanderers,West Bromwich Albion and St.Johnson in Scotland.Chelsea claim to be the first to have used it back in 1969 and they still use it to this very day.
