Best Bit-At 2.58.Some songs have vague lyrics,some are practically impossible to decipher,others can have more than one meaning and some you can study for hours and hours and get nowhere,but even my small brain had this one sorted out in 10 seconds.
John Miles was born John Errington,23 April 1949,Jarrow,County Durham,England,he formed his first band while at Jarrow Grammar School with Paul Thompson(later of Roxy Music) and Vic Malcolm(later of Geordie.) In 1971 he pursued a solo career,although none of his songs from that period were successful,his recording of the George Young and Harry Vanda song ‘One Minute Every Hour’ has become a Northern Soul favourite.
In 1975 Miles signed with Decca Records,which led to him working with Alan Parsons and Andrew Powell.Parsons was already a legendary name having been involved in the production of the Beatles ‘Abbey Road,’and Pink Floyd’s ‘The Dark Side of the Moon'(see also best songs 130.) The orchestral arrangement on ‘Music’ was done by Andrew Powell who has worked alongside all of Britain’s top orchestras.In ‘Pop Music’ his first commission was arranging the debut Album from Cockney Rebel called ‘The Human Menagerie,’which included the song ‘Death Trip.’
Since 1985 Miles has participated almost every year in the ‘Night of the Proms,’a series of concerts held yearly in several European countries and the United States.In 2009 he released the Album ‘The Best of John Miles at the Night of the Proms.’
