Donna Summer was born LaDonna Adrian Gaines,December 31,1948 in Boston,Massachusetts,she died of lung cancer on May 17,2012,she was known worldwide as the ‘Queen of Disco.’
Summer first met this songs writers and producers Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte while living and working in Germany.It was Summer who originally came up with the idea for the song,but because of her religious upbringing she didn’t want to perform it herself.Summer’s erotic moans and groans impressed Moroder so much that he persuaded her to release it as her own song.In an interview in 1976 Summer answered the questions everyone was asking,’Everyone’s asking,were you alone in the studio? Yes,I was alone.Did you touch yourself? Yes,well,actually I had my hand on my knee.Did you fantasise on anything? Yes,on my handsome boyfriend Peter.’
Peter Bellotte was born in 1943 in Barnet,England,other artists he has written for and produced include,Elton John,Tina Turner and Janet Jackson.
Giorgio Moroder was born,26 April,1940 in Urtijei,Italy,he is known as the ‘Father of Disco.’He is credited with pioneering Electronic Dance Music and his work with synthesizers influenced several music genres such as New Wave,Techno and House Music.To date he has written or produced four UK Number 1 singles.
