‘Cabaret’ is the title song from the 1966 musical of the same name,it is sung by the character Sally Bowles.The music was written by John Kander and Fred Ebb(see also best songs 469 and 441,) in 1972 it was made into a musical drama film starring Liza Minnelli in the role of Sally Bowles.
The story is set in 1931 Berlin under the presence of the growing Nazi Party,the film is loosely based on the 1966 musical which in turn was adapted from the 1939 novel ‘The Berlin Stories/Goodbye To Berlin,’by Christopher Isherwood.
Liza May Minnelli was born in Los Angeles,California on March 12,1946,she is the daughter of Judy Garland and the film director Vincente Minnelli,for her role in Cabaret she won ‘Best actress in a leading role,’ at the 45th Academy Awards.In 1989 Minnelli released an Album produced by the Pet Shop Boys called ‘Results’ which reached Number 6 on the Album chart,a single called ‘Losing My Mind’ gave her,her only chart hit to date peaking at Number 6.She also sang backing vocals on the Alice Cooper hit ‘Teenage Lament 74′(see also best songs 427.)
