The Miracles were formed in Detroit,Michigan,United States in 1955 by Smokey Robinson,Warren ‘Pete’ Moore(1938-2017) and Ronnie White(1939-1995.)
‘The Tracks Of My Tears’ was co-written by Robinson,Moore and Marvin Tarplin(1941-2011) who had joined the band in the late 1950’s.The songs famous intro was written by Tarplin(see also best songs 309) who stated that the inspiration came from the Harry Belafonte song.’The Banana Boat Song.’Robinson who wrote the lyrics has said he was looking in the mirror one day and thinking,’What if a person would cry so much that you could see tracks of their tears in their face.’
