Best Bit-At 1.01.During the late 1960’s and early 1970’s this was nearly always the song Elvis would finish his concerts with.It was also the very last song he ever performed live,at his concert in Indianapolis at Market Square Arena on June 26,1977.
‘Can’t Help Falling In Love’ was written for the 1961 film Blue Hawaii starring Elvis Presley(see also best songs 954-664 and 442,) in the film Presley actually sings the song to the grandmother of the girl he is dating.
The song was co-written by Hugo Peretti and Luigi Creatore who in the 1970’s would form the ‘H and L’ record label.home of The Stylistics and Van McCoy.The songs other writer was George David Wiess(see also best songs 767.)
The song has also been successful in the UK for UB40 who took their version to Number 1 in 1993.Andy Williams hit Number 3 with the song in 1970 and The Stylistics did a Disco version which peaked at Number 4 in 1976.
