Best Bit-At 2.25.He wasn’t christened ‘Guitar,’ but he should have been.
In fact Watson took his stage name from the Joan Crawford 1954 film ‘Johnny Guitar.’
Johnny ‘Guitar’ Watson was born on February 3,1935 and died on May 17th,1996 in Yokohama,Japan of a heart attack,he collapsed while performing on stage.
Watson was a flamboyant showman with a taste for flashy clothes and wild showmanship on stage.
His teenage years were spent playing in Blues bands and he recorded his first single in 1952 as ‘Young John Watson.’As music tastes changed he turned his hand to Soul in the 60’s and Funk in the 70’s.
