In total over the course of his career Johnny Cash released four live Albums recorded in prisons.’At Folsom Prison’ from 1968 and ‘At San Quentin’ from 1969 are the two biggest selling live Albums of all time.
In 1968 Cash(see also best songs 857) realised that his career needed a boost,he had already played several ‘prison concerts’ since the late 1950’s and his idea to record a live Album and have the concert recorded paid off.He had written to both the Folsom and San Quentin prisons and because Folsom were the first to respond, they held the first concert.
‘San Quentin what good do you think you do,do you think I’ll be different when your through.’
