This song was Edwin Starr’s biggest hit during his Disco phase.Like many artists of that period,due to the phenomenal success of Disco,he too recorded in that genre.
Edwin Starr who died in 2003 was a very successful Tamla Motown recording artist back in the 1960’s,his four Billboard top 30 singles include his cover of the Temptations 1969 Album track ‘War,’which became ‘THE’ anti-Vietnam War protest song when Starr topped the chart with it in 1970,it also reached Number 3 in the UK.
Starr is one of the three co-writers of ‘Contact,’ he is also the songs producer.He wrote a lot of his own material as well as songs for others and many of his 1960’s Motown tracks are still very popular with the Northern Soul community.
