‘HI-NRG'(pronounced ‘high energy’) is a genre of uptempo disco or electronic dance music that originated in the United States during the late 1970’s and early 1980’s.
In 1977 Donna Summer was interviewed about her single ‘I Feel Love’ which was a mostly electronic,high tempo disco song,she said ‘this song became a hit because it has a high energy vibe.’
The song was co-written by Ian Levine and Fiachra Trench.Levine was one of people responsible for promoting ‘Northern Soul’ in the 1970’s and he also set up the ‘Motorcity’ record label.Trench is credited with the string arrangements on the songs ‘I Don’t Like Mondays’ and ‘Fairytale Of New York.’
