Showaddywaddy were formed in 1973 in Leicester from two local bands,’Choise’ and ‘The Golden Hammers.’Their initial success was gained after winning an edition of the Television talent show ‘New Faces’ and going on to be overall runners up in the final in 1973.
Hey Rock and Roll is credited as being written by all of the band,but the majority of their hits were cover versions of 1950’s and 1960’s songs.Between 1974-1982 they amassed a total of 23 top 40 singles including their only Number 1 ‘Under The Moon Of Love.’
