The Weight tells the story of a man who visits Nazareth,Pennsylvania and is asked by his friend Annie to visit several of her friends.’The Weight’ is the responsibility he has been given to check on all these people who are strangers.The characters in the song were based on real people the band new,for example ‘Crazy Chester’ was an eccentric character who used to go watch The Band play.
