Proud Mary started out life as a Rock song written by John Fogerty the lead singer with the band Creedence Clearwater Revival.They had great success with the song taking it to Number 2 on Billboard and Number 8 in the UK.The Ike and Tina Turner version differs greatly from Fogerty’s original with credit for the innovative arrangement being given to long time Ike Turner collaborator Soko Richardson.This version reached Number 4 on Billboard in 1971 and has become one of Tina Turners signature songs.
