This song is Kate Bush’s biggest hit to date.The guitar solo is played by Ian Bairnson who himself as a member of the group Pilot had topped the charts exactly 3 years earlier with the song January.
Co-incidentally Kate Bush and Emily Bronte both share the same Birthday,July 30th.

The song was written by George Cory and Douglas Cross,two amateur songwriters who had met while serving during World War 2,together they wrote something in the region of 300 songs but this was their only real success.
The song is the official anthem for the city of San Francisco.

Sven Hogberg was born in 1944 in Sweden and was influenced by Rock N Roll in his youth.His stage name originates from his idols Hank Williams,Chet Atkins and Johnny Burnette.He wrote this Rockabilly classic in 1971 and it is probably fair to say you have never heard anything that sounds like this before.

Kelly Clarkson rose to fame in 2002 after winning the inaugural season of the television series American Idol.Since U Been Gone was written by prolific hit makers Max Martin and Dr Luke with Pink in mind but after she turned it down it was offered to Hillary Duff who also rejected it.Clarkson’s manager Clive Davis convinced the writers to give it to her and she decided to add heavier guitars and harder drums to the song after noticing that the demo had an obvious pop sound.

The mainstays of BTO are Randy Bachman and Fred Turner.Bachman had left the very successful Canadian group The Guess Who whose hits include American Woman at the height of their success due to conflicts with other band members.Fred Turner played in over a dozen bands in and around Winnipeg and it was advice to Bachman from Neil Young that brought them together and the rest is history.
