The 1000 best songs in the world ever.
840-Sparks-This town Ain’t Big Enough For The Both Of Us.
1974-Number 2 single.
Best Bit-At 1.39 If Ron Mael and his menacing Adolf Hitler moustache tell you there isn’t room for the both of you, leave.
Sparks are brothers Ron and Russell Mael who originally formed in 1968 under the name Halfnelson,on September 8th 2017 they released their 24th Studio Album called Hippopotamus. In 1974 Glam Rock was at its peak and this song belongs in that genre. The track has very quirky lyrics but basically the song’s main character keeps trying to work up the nerve to ask girls out but always chickens out,in order to make him feel better about himself he watches old cowboy movies.

846-Glen Campbell-Wichita Lineman.
1968-Number 7 single.
Best Bit-At 1.49 if you can make what is probably quite a mundane job seem mysterious and romantic you must be doing something right.
The writer of the song is Jimmy Webb who is Pop Music royalty having written other classic songs as well in the mid to late 1960s.His inspiration for the lyric came while driving through Washita County in Oklahoma. At that time many telephone companies were county owned utilities and their linemen were county employees.Webb drove past endless telephone poles, then in the distance he saw a solitary lineman atop a pole.He described it as ‘the picture of loneliness’ as the lineman spoke into the phone Webb considered what the man was saying into the receiver.
