Hello Dolly is a 1964 musical with lyrics and music by Jerry Herman.The plot of Hello Dolly originated in a 1835 English play,A Day Well Spent by John Oxenford.The song has been recorded by numerous artists with the most successful by Louis Armstrong topping the Billboard chart in 1964.
The founding members of the group were brothers Con Cluskey,Declan Cluskey and John Stokes.In 1957 as The Harmonichords they appeared on Hughie Green’s opportunity Knocks.They changed their name to The Bachelors in 1960 at the suggestion of Dick Rowe,A&R at Decca Records,who reportedly recommended the name ‘because that’s the kind of boy a girl likes.’
